A separate report released by Feeding America found that Louisiana has the highest food insecurity rate among seniors in the country, almost double the national rate. So while many families gather around abundant dinner tables, others are grappling with empty shelves and mounting uncertainty. Food banks are pivotal in addressing this issue, particularly during a time when their resources are stretched thin due to decreased donations and volunteer participation. These organizations serve as crucial safety nets, bridging the gap for children, seniors and families who are in urgent need.
