hristmas in Roseland is celebrating 40 years of lighting the grounds of the American Rose Center. With the addition of millions of new lights, a towering musical tree, new events, and more fireworks nights, this festival is bigger and better than ever. It's no wonder why they took home the Visit Shreveport-Bossier's award for 2023's Outstanding Event.

Every year the gardens are transformed into a whimsical winter wonderland featuring huge lighted displays, Christmas Cards to the Community, nightly entertainment, photos with Santa, rides on the Roseland Express train, and tons of fun for the whole family. Christmas in Roseland is the largest fundraiser for the American Rose Center, and this year, they hope the community helps celebrate the 40th anniversary simply by attending.

The festival starts weekends following Thanksgiving until Dec. 23, when Santa and the crew take a much-needed break for the season. From Dec. 18-23, they will be open weekdays as well for their special Encore Nights, where you’ll enjoy firework shows, a candlelight sing-along, and more.

The brightly lit gardens aren’t the only draw to this festival. Christmas in Roseland happily welcomes Santa Claus back to the gardens to meet the guests, hear their Christmas wishlists, and take photos with them and the whole family. After you snap a photo with Ol’ Saint Nick, head over to the marshmallow roasting station for a warm treat before hopping on the Roseland Express.

Everyone’s annual favorites will be back, including their shopping market, Dec. 8-10, special discount nights for many of our community’s service-related personnel, special visitors from the NWLA Mardi Gras Krewes, and, of course, fireworks! This amazing festival wouldn’t be complete without performers from the area showcasing their talent. So, if you or someone you know is a singer, in groups like choirs and dance troupes, or has recitals on deck, now is your time to sign up and shine.

For those seeking a unique venue for holiday parties, corporate events, or other special occasions, look no further. With various locations inside and outside, there’s sure to be a unique space for your event. Office parties, engagement parties, proposals, and even weddings have graced the gardens during one of the most magical times of their season.

If attending doesn’t scratch your holiday itch, consider volunteering at this award-winning nonprofit event. If you need volunteer hours for school, scholarships, etc., the crew at Christmas in Roseland would love to have you. No experience is needed, and they offer various opportunities to help.

There are so many ways to get involved, and whether it’s attending as a guest, vendor, performer, or volunteer, there is a place for the whole family! Be sure to mark your calendar to attend.
