o you have an air fryer collecting dust because your first attempts at using it were culinary disasters? It’s time to give your air fryer another try. Shreveport resident Jennifer West and her business partner Rebecca Abbott of Mesa, Arizona, want to make air frying experts out of you. Their popular website, Air Frying Foodie, is teeming with recipes and helpful tips for cooking practically anything in the air fryer. West claims, “Anything you can make in the oven, you can make in the air fryer in less time and with a little extra crisp. The circulating hot air ‘fries’ food with no oily mess.”

Jen and Becky met in a virtual photography course during the Covid shutdown. They soon realized their shared love for food and photography made them the perfect business partners, despite living over 1000 miles apart. On their website and Facebook page, Jen and Becky share beautifully photographed air fryer recipes for everything from crowd-pleasing appetizers to decadent desserts. Since all air fryers are different, Jen recommends using the “toast test” to see how long it takes your air fryer to brown a piece of bread. The model she uses takes about four minutes at 400 degrees. Use the results of your toast test to adjust cooking times for the Air Frying Foodie recipes.

Here are a few common mistakes to avoid. Steer away from using aerosol cooking sprays, as they contain an additive that will break down the non-stick coating on your air fryer. If you’re worried about food sticking, consider using a small amount of olive oil or avocado oil. When cleaning your air fryer, avoid using abrasive cleaners or scrubbers.

Word is spreading about Jen and Becky’s air frying genius. When The New York Times shared their cheesecake recipe on Instagram, it became one of their most-shared recipes. Their new cookbook, Air Fryer All Day, is set to hit store shelves in October. Pre-order now! In the meantime, find a wide variety of recipes on their website at airfryingfoodie.com and become part of their Facebook community.
